‘El Silencio’ Spring Campaign 2021
‘The Silence’ unveils the beautiful words behind the Valencian singer Raimon, ‘I come from an old and very long silence’, which I heard on the radio during the lockdown. The intriguing title immediately captured my interest, curiosity and I immediately felt identified.
Doing fashion design was something that I always wanted to do. It was a thought, a desire that was increasing in time. It was like a latent whisper that you have it in your mind, but you never find the time to hear it, or you find excuses not to do something about it. That was until when came the general lockdown due to the Corona Virus.
The good thing that came for me during this frozen time was that I finally had the time to enjoy not always having something to do. It was when this latent whisper became a voice which I could no longer ignore or hide. A voice that led me to this ambitious decision to go on with my project, to redefine and reimagine NOD, and to make the second collection based on essentials keeping in mind my interest in the japonese culture. These comfortable essentials with its forms and colours is an invitation to pause, to meditate and to enjoy silence.
One of the things I learned from this crisis, this project and meditation that is hard to always stay focused and that doubt and desperation are part of the process. The same way happens with this collection, where the bright orange colour is an interference in this static and contemplative colour scheme and form. The same way as a crisis can interfere in everyday life.
